During an inspection of a shipment of cucumbers, Rosselkhoznadzor officials discovered that the produce was being transported with a forged certificate.

A truck carrying more than 18 tonnes of cucumbers was stopped in Russia’s Smolensk Region, near the Russian-Belarusian border. It was driven by a Belarusian citizen who was transporting the vegetables from Moscow to the Brodok outlet in Olshany. The phytosanitary certificate accompanying the cargo turned out to be fake.

The inspection materials have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies to initiate criminal proceedings. The owner of the shipment will face administrative liability.
