Russia Proposes Expanding Union State Goods List To Include Consumer Products

Russia has proposed that Belarus include consumer goods in the list of categories of Union State goods. At present, Union State goods mainly cover engineering products.

“Our primary task is to jointly promote Union State goods both on the domestic market and abroad. Therefore, I recently proposed to our Belarusian colleagues that starting next year we expand the pilot categories of goods, primarily to include consumer products,” Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Roman Chekushov told TASS.

As a reminder, the criterion for classifying industrial products as Union State goods may be that they contain at least 50% Russian-Belarusian components, with each side accounting for at least 25%.

“Until the end of this year, we have Union State goods operating in pilot industries. We are still looking at how businesses obtain the Union State goods designation,” Chekushov explained.

According to him, companies are currently receiving certificates for trucks, buses and electric buses.
