Representatives of the State Control Committee and KGB Added to Regional Executive Committees and Minsk City Executive Committee

Representatives of the State Control Committee and KGB will now be included by default in regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee. The relevant amendments have been made to the Regulation on Staffing of Local Government and Self-Government Bodies. Decree No. 531 of October 5 was published today on the National Legal Internet Portal and takes effect upon publication.

The following officials will now be included in regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee:

• the chair of the regional State Control Committee, or the head of the State Control Committee’s structural unit for Minsk,
• the head of the KGB department for the region or Minsk.

Previously, executive committees included the heads of internal affairs departments, as well as “other officials at the decision of the chair of the regional executive committee or Minsk City Executive Committee, subject to approval by the president.”

Under the new version, the chairs of the city executive committees of regional capitals have also been removed from the membership of regional executive committees.
