Inflation in Belarus amounted to 0.6% in February. Since the beginning of the year, prices have increased by 1%. Data from Belstat show which goods and services rose and fell the most during the past month.
According to the statistics agency, bananas recorded the sharpest price increase in February, rising by 10.79%. Prices also increased for avocados (+9.59%), fresh tomatoes (+8.79%), grapes (+7.36%), while fees for rental housing rose by 7.14%.
The largest monthly price decreases were recorded for fresh mushrooms (−4.37%), fur-lined boots (−2.61%), glass goblets (−2.24%), suits (−2.15%), and electric shavers (−2.12%).
Since the beginning of the year, the biggest price increases have been recorded for avocados (+28.38%), fresh tomatoes (+20.81%), grapes (+14.56%), fresh flowers (+10.87%), cucumbers (+10.54%), filter cigarettes (+9.21%), tobacco products overall (+9.14%), and salt (+8.63%).
The largest price declines compared with December were recorded for circus tickets (−8.03%), winter boots (−4.87%), fur-lined boots (−4.95%), citrus fruits (−3.57%), and winter jackets (−3.36%).
