The propaganda Telegram channel Sprava, founded by Raman Pratasevich, has claimed that Rahachou activist Dzianis Dashkevich was allegedly preparing an attack on the children of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. This is the alleged “planned terrorist attack” that Belarus’ Foreign Ministry said it had warned the Polish authorities about.
According to the channel, Dashkevich planned to have Tsikhanouskaya’s children killed “by the hands of Ukrainians” before “making a political statement and committing suicide.”
Sprava also claims that the Polish authorities declared Dashkevich a threat to national security and initiated deportation proceedings against him. It alleges that he sought help from Tsikhanouskaya and the democratic forces but received no assistance.
According to Reform.news, Poland’s Office for Foreigners has indeed launched proceedings to revoke Dashkevich’s refugee status at the request of the Internal Security Agency (ABW). The editorial team says it has obtained documents confirming this.
According to a notice dated May 18, 2026, the proceedings were initiated following an application by the ABW. The document states that the authorities must verify “whether the circumstances on the basis of which refugee status was granted still exist.”
However, the notice does not disclose the reasons for the ABW’s request or contain any allegations against Dashkevich.
As part of the procedure, the Polish authorities requested that he submit written explanations.
Specifically, Dashkevich was asked to provide:
The Office for Foreigners also invited him to explain why his refugee status should not be revoked.
He was given seven days from receipt of the notice to submit his written response to the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw.
According to preliminary information, the Office has decided to revoke Dashkevich’s refugee status. He remains at liberty.
Tsikhanouskaya’s Office commented on the situation, describing it as a provocation.
“We regularly receive various kinds of threats. In this way, the regime is deliberately trying to intimidate representatives of the democratic movement and put pressure on the countries that have taken in Belarusians. At times, the regime’s security services exploit the vulnerable position of Belarusians who have found themselves in difficult life circumstances because of repression.
In this particular case, we have no additional information beyond what has been published by Lukashenka’s Foreign Ministry and pro-regime propaganda channels. This appears to be yet another provocation on their part. We have had no communication with this individual, and our legal team has not received any requests from him,” the Tsikhanouskaya Office said.
Dashkevich is the founder of the regional outlet Rahachou Online. He left Belarus for Poland in 2022. In 2023, he was fined in absentia in an administrative case for distributing “extremist materials” after publishing a photograph of Polish President Andrzej Duda with a flag used during Polish-Hungarian friendship events in 2016. The flag consisted of a white-red-white banner with two trees depicted in the centre. Later in 2023, Dashkevich said he had written to Belarus’ Foreign Ministry to renounce his Belarusian citizenship.
