Political Prisoner and Journalist Volha Radzivonava’s Mother Dies

The mother of imprisoned journalist and political prisoner Volha Radzivonava has died. Her friend, artist Nika Sandros, reported the news on Facebook.

“Volha Radzivonava’s mother has died. She did not live to see Volha come home from prison. I don’t know what to say about this,” Nika Sandros wrote.

Volha Radzivonava was tried over articles published in the German newspaper Die Tageszeitung. She was charged with defaming Lukashenka, discrediting the Republic of Belarus, inciting discord and insulting Lukashenka. In 2024, a court sentenced Rodionova to four years in prison.
