Belarus’ Interior Ministry has reported that police dispersed a car festival in the Uzda district of the Minsk region. The operation was prompted by complaints from residents about traffic disruption.
According to the ministry, the event was intended as an exhibition of drift cars. It had not been authorized by the authorities, and participants had been invited through social media.
Police officers who arrived at the scene found more than 250 vehicles parked along the R23 highway near the village of Trastsiniets and around 600 people gathered at sites in a nearby forest belt.
“Police officers informed those present that they had to leave the site of the unauthorized gathering, while traffic police took measures to stabilize road traffic,” the press release said.
Administrative cases against the organizers and the most active participants have been referred to court.
