Officers of the second department of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption (GUBOPiK) of the Interior Ministry have solved a series of serious crimes committed in the Viciebsk region in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Four repeatedly convicted residents of Viciebsk were detained with the forceful support of the Almaz special unit.
According to the Interior Ministry, they were members of an armed organized group that carried out robberies, muggings, and extortion, and were also involved in the murder of a security guard at a private company whose owners had been subjected to extortion.
