Brest customs officers seized a packet containing mephedrone from a 46-year-old bus driver who entered Belarus from Poland.
The Belarusian citizen presented his personal belongings and a shopping bag for inspection. During questioning, he said he had agreed to transport the bag after receiving it in Poland.
The luggage was scanned using an X-ray system, which revealed an unusual object concealed inside a package of laundry detergent. A detection dog also indicated the possible presence of prohibited substances.
“A polymer ziplock bag containing a white crystalline substance was recovered from the package. A forensic examination confirmed that the seized substance was the particularly dangerous psychotropic drug mephedrone,” the State Customs Committee said.
A criminal case has been opened.
