Over 3,600 Foreign Nationals Deported from Belarus Since Start of Year

More than 3,600 foreign nationals have been deported from Belarus since the beginning of this year, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou said following his report to Alyaksandr Lukashenka on November 5.

Kubrakou noted that over the past five years, the number of foreigners visiting Belarus has tripled. In the first nine months of this year alone, 1.7 million people entered the country. The number of labor migrants has also increased — one and a half times more than during the same period last year, according to state news agency BelTA.

According to Kubrakou, most foreigners coming to Belarus are law-abiding, but more than 3,600 people have been deported since the start of the year for violating the law. Among them were 1,300 illegal migrants.

Kubrakou emphasized that the migration situation remains under control.

“Everyone knows that we have order and discipline, and it cannot be otherwise. If people come here to rest or to work, our country always welcomes them. Those who break the law leave our country immediately — either voluntarily or by force. The law allows us to do this today. We fully control the migration situation,” the minister said.
