Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou held a meeting on May 25 with Oman’s non-resident ambassador to Belarus Hamoud Salim Abdullah Al Tuwaih. During the talks, the Omani diplomat delivered to Aliaksandr Lukashenka a reply message from the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed implementation of agreements reached following the first meeting of the Belarus-Oman Joint Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation and Investment. That meeting took place on April 1–2 in Muscat.
During the meeting, the parties also reviewed the schedule of joint events planned for the near future. In particular, they discussed holding inter-ministerial consultations in Minsk later this year.
It should be recalled that on April 22, Lukashenka’s eldest son Viktar Lukashenka personally travelled to Oman as his father’s special envoy and delivered a written message to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. On behalf of the Sultan, Viktar Lukashenka was received by the Sultan’s son, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said. The contents of the message were not disclosed.
