Sales of new passenger cars in Belarus totaled 7,400 units in June, down 9% from May, according to data published by the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA). This is the first month-on-month decline in sales this year.
“June’s correction was fairly broad: of the market’s 10 leading brands, eight ended the month with negative month-on-month dynamics compared with May,” the BAA said.
The association also noted that despite the decline in June, the month’s result was still the second-highest this year. Over the first six months of the year, legal entities sold 35,600 vehicles.
The best-selling models in June were BelGee S50 (974 units), BelGee X50+ (796 units), and Geely EX2 (667 units).
Sales of electric vehicles saw the sharpest decline in June. A total of 2,400 EVs were sold last month, down 31% from May.
“Against the backdrop of declining sales at official dealerships, the number of new vehicles imported by private individuals increased.
In June, private individuals imported 1,800 new vehicles, up 27% from May.
This trend indicates that part of the demand for new vehicles may be shifting between the official dealership network and independent imports,” the BAA said.
