About 40 tons of pork back fat have been detained in Russia’s Smolensk region.
Two trucks were traveling from Belarus to Russia. The shipment of pork fat was wrapped in film and bore veterinary stamps from a Spanish manufacturer. However, the drivers were unable to present veterinary certificates or other documents for the cargo.
The import of products from the manufacturer indicated by the stamps has been banned in Russia since 2009, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision said. The trucks have been placed in a holding area. The pork fat will be sent for examination.
