The National Bank of Belarus has unveiled a new 200-ruble banknote of the 2026 series. It will enter circulation on 1 June.
“The banknote’s design is conceptually similar to the current 200-ruble note in circulation but has a number of differences. The security features have also been upgraded.”, the statement said.
The National Bank had previously updated the 5-, 10-, 20-, 50- and 100-ruble banknotes. Those were issued in 2019–2022.
The new banknote bears the signature of current Chairman of the National Bank Board Raman Halouchanka. It also includes the name of the architectural landmark depicted — “Mahiliou Regional Art Museum Named After P.V. Maslenikau”.
“An additional watermark — a filigree in the form of a very light image of the denomination ‘200’ — has been added to the multi-tone watermark.
The security thread has been replaced with a wider one (4 mm), featuring more pronounced visual security effects.
The paper includes ‘Iron Frame’ reinforcement along the long edge of the banknote.
Durability has been increased through double-sided varnishing.”, the National Bank added.
The banknotes were printed by Russia’s Goznak.
The 200-ruble banknote of the 2009 series remains legal tender.
