Mstsislau Hosts Annual Knight Festival

The Knight Festival in Mstsislau was held for the 19th time, bringing together historical reenactors, craftspeople, music groups and tourists.

This year, organizers placed a special emphasis on the art of street performances.

The main events traditionally took place on Castle Hill, including full-contact knight tournaments with swords and lances, battles involving dozens of heavily armed warriors, a castle assault using siege equipment, and mounted performances.

A craftsmen’s village also welcomed visitors with traditional craft workshops and performances by medieval musicians.

The evening program featured ethno-rock performances, a fire show on Castle Hill and an overnight disco at the district House of Culture. The festival’s headline act was the Minsk rock band Plemя.

The Knight Festival of Medieval Culture was first held in Mstsislau in 2007.
