Minibus Carrying Belarusian Tourists Crashes in Batumi

A serious traffic accident involving a tourist minibus and a passenger car occurred in Batumi on the morning of July 25, Adjara Times reported. According to preliminary information, two people were killed and at least seven others were injured.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Gorgiladze and Vazha-Pshavela streets. Following the powerful collision, the minibus overturned, while the passenger car crashed into the wall of the Batumi Art University. Witnesses said the impact was so severe that some passengers were thrown from the minibus.

According to information from Tbilisi Life, the minibus was carrying a tour group of Belarusian citizens. Both of those killed were reported to be foreign nationals. The injured were taken to various clinics in Batumi, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation under Article 276 of the Criminal Code, which covers violations of road traffic safety rules. The circumstances of the tragedy are being established.
