MAZ Cuts Truck Sales in Russia and Increases Bus Deliveries

Sales of MAZ trucks in Russia declined in the first quarter, while bus deliveries increased.

According to ASM-Holding data, MAZ sold 275 trucks in Russia in March, down 5.5% from the same period last year. In the first quarter as a whole, truck sales fell 18.6% to 696 units.

The Russian truck market as a whole shrank by 28.9% in January-March to 11,800 vehicles. KamAZ remained the market leader with 3,899 vehicles sold, down 13.8%. GAZ moved into second place with 846 vehicles sold, down 35.7%, while Chinese manufacturer FAW ranked third with 831 trucks sold, down 30.4%.

The best-selling MAZ models in the first quarter were the MAZ 5340 4×2 with 225 units sold and the MAZ 6312 6×4 with 172 units sold.

Sales of MAZ buses in March totaled 101 units, 4.2 times more than in the same month last year. Quarterly sales increased 3.9-fold to 152 units.

The Russian bus market as a whole declined by 4% in the first quarter to 1,912 units. PAZ remained the market leader with 569 vehicles sold, although its sales fell by 44%.

This year, MAZ supplied 78 MAZ 206-226 buses, 51 MAZ 216047 buses and another 17 MAZ 257 buses to Russia.
