MART Signs Agreement With Seven Largest Online Platforms, Excluding Wildberries

Belarus’ Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) has signed a unified agreement with seven online platforms. The document was signed by the online retailer Euroopt, Yandex Food, Belposhta, Ozon, Flowwow, Onliner, and Delivio, the ministry’s press service reported.

The agreement aims to ensure a balance of interests among e-commerce participants and increase sales of domestically produced goods.

Under the agreement, online platforms are required to ensure transparency in their interactions with sellers and provide them with the technical ability to publish information about themselves and their products.

A separate clause requires platforms to monitor their marketplaces to prevent the sale of goods “showing signs of extremism” and “extremist” materials.

The online platforms also undertake to expand pickup point networks in sparsely populated and remote areas or organize courier delivery to such localities.

Participants in the agreement further commit to increasing recognition of domestically produced goods and promoting Belarusian national cuisine, holding events to stimulate sales of domestic products, and creating favorable conditions for Belarusian manufacturers seeking to sell their goods on the platforms.

The agreement is open in nature. Any online platform may join under equal terms.

The popular marketplace Wildberries was not among the signatories in Belarus. According to MART, the company was sent an invitation to join the agreement.
