Bison From Belavezhskaya Pushcha Brought to Bashkortostan

Six European bison from Belavezhskaya Pushcha have arrived in Bashkortostan, Russia. They will live in the Muradym Gorge natural park in the Kugarchinsky District, the national park’s press service reported.

One male and five females were transported to the new habitat, two of which are expected to give birth soon.

Bashkortostan has been implementing a European bison breeding project since 2023. In that year, 18 bison from Belavezhskaya Pushcha arrived in the Russian region. They successfully adapted and produced offspring — eight calves. In February 2026, Bashkortostan announced plans to purchase nine more adult bison from Belarus.
