The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) is considering changes to the list of Belarusian-made goods eligible for preferential consumer loans. A final decision has also not yet been made on whether to extend the programme into next year, Deputy Minister Sviatlana Karatkevich said at a press conference at the Press House.
“We still need to decide whether this lending programme will be extended into 2027,” she said.
Karatkevich added that a meeting on the issue is scheduled for tomorrow. Over the past two and a half years, nearly 300,000 loan agreements worth 2 billion Belarusian roubles have been concluded.
“Demand has declined for some product categories. Therefore, we need to assess whether it makes sense to extend this consumer lending programme into 2027 at all. At the same time, it can certainly be said that it has provided significant support for manufacturers, young families and consumers who use it. Most likely, the issue will be reviewed again in the second half of this year in order to either expand or narrow the list,” she said.
