“Make Sure You Don’t Embarrass Yourselves on Quality”: Lukashenka Shown Most Powerful MTZ Tractor

Alyaksandr Lukashenka was shown today the most powerful tractor in the MTZ lineup. The BELARUS-5425 has an engine with an output of 542 hp. As reported earlier, one such machine was assembled this year, and another five tractors were planned to be produced by the end of May. Serial production may begin in 2027.

Agriculture and Food Minister Yury Horlau said during the presentation that Belarusian farmers would need about 300 such tractors. Lukashenka, however, was primarily concerned with quality.

“God forbid you produce low-quality equipment. The machinery must be of high quality. Pay special attention to this”, Lukashenka was quoted as saying by his press service.

He stressed again that MTZ equipment should be purchased because of its high quality, as it is a national brand that must not be undermined.

“The tractor must be of high quality. The warranty should be at least five years. And then six and seven. We will gradually increase it”, he said.

“We will consider that you have produced a ‘spacecraft’. Make sure you don’t embarrass yourselves on quality”, Lukashenka added.

He also noted that the quality of ploughing must be high, as it directly affects the cost of agricultural production.

The new MTZ tractor features a transmission without interruption of power flow, a high-performance hydraulic system and an automatic steering system. A 900-litre fuel tank ensures continuous operation for up to 10 hours. The tractor is also equipped with front and rear mounting systems with lifting capacities of 5.5 tonnes and 12 tonnes respectively.

It is noted that the share of components produced by MTZ itself stands at 76.9%, with 15.8% produced by other enterprises in Belarus, 1.8% by companies in the CIS, and 5.5% supplied from outside the CIS.
