The Mahiliou prosecutor’s office has referred to court a criminal case against a 21-year-old city resident. She is accused of abusing a minor in a helpless condition (Part 2, Article 154 of the Criminal Code).
In June of last year, the woman’s older sister asked her to look after her young nieces and nephews aged two, four and six. According to the prosecution, when the children refused to go to bed and did not comply with the relative’s demands, she inflicted “at least 20 blows with a belt with a metal buckle to the buttocks and thighs” of the six-year-old girl, causing prolonged pain as well as bodily injuries that did not result in a short-term health disorder.
The prosecutor’s office noted that after the incident, the three children were recognized as being in a socially dangerous situation.
The accused has been placed under a travel restriction order.
