Lukashenka to Coale: My View on the Middle East Matters to You as You Are Fighting Against Our Friends

Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that his view on the situation in the Middle East is important for the United States. He made the statement during talks with US President’s Special Envoy for Belarus John Coale.

“John, it is as if there is no war — these wars and global problems seem to have no effect on you,” Lukashenka said while shaking Coale’s hand.

“That’s good,” the American envoy replied.

The topic of war was continued at the negotiating table, but first Lukashenka hinted at the possible launch of direct air connections, noting that it would be more convenient for the US envoy to fly directly to Belarus. He then proposed discussing both regional and global issues.

“The agenda has essentially been determined (we will not hide it — we agreed on it in advance). Therefore, as always, I am ready to discuss any issues and respond to any questions. I would strongly ask that we discuss regional problems — not only Ukraine, but also global ones. And not only the war in the Middle East. I believe my point of view on global issues, especially on the situation in the Middle East, will be important for you, since you are fighting against our friends. And I am ready to speak frankly on this topic,” he said.

According to Lukashenka’s press service, Coale уточнил, whether he was referring to a war with Iran.

“Yes, I would very much like you to convey my point of view to Donald Trump. I still, despite certain mistakes, as I see it, by the United States, remain a supporter of your president,” Lukashenka replied.

It should be recalled that since late February, the United States and Israel have been conducting a military operation against Iran. During this time, the Belarusian side has maintained contacts both with Iran and with US-allied countries that have also come under attack by Iranian forces. In particular, Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with Iran’s ambassador to Belarus, and Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou held talks with counterparts from Persian Gulf countries. Last week, Lukashenka received Ryzhankou for a briefing.

On Friday, during a visit to a dairy complex in the Dribin district, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that the best option for US President Donald Trump would be to exit the conflict with Iran.

“Let them say they have already bombed everything there — but leave. Because it will only get worse,” he said at the time.
