Lukashenka Speaks About a Trade Deal With the United States

Alyaksandr Lukashenka said there is “a whole long list” of goods that Belarus could buy from the United States in exchange for selling Belarusian potash fertilizers. This list has been sent to the US side.

“Recently I received a request from the United States of America, from the White House. We did not make it public. ‘What can Belarus buy in the United States? We are ready to purchase potash fertilizers from you, and other things. But what can Belarus offer in return?’ Trump is a good economist. At least in the sense that there should be balance.

I thought that we probably do not buy very much. But when we looked into it, there was a whole long list. We sent it to them. They were surprised that we could buy so much from them, including certain engines,” Lukashenka said.

He proposed that the Minsk Motor Plant cooperate with the United States.

“So we need you to handle all of this. You can work with the Americans. I can negotiate with them on this matter,” Lukashenka said, addressing the company’s management at a ceremony marking the awarding of the State Quality Mark symbol.

It should be recalled that following talks between Lukashenka and John Coale, a special envoy of Trump, in December 2025, the United States allowed operations involving Belaruskali, BPC, and its Ukrainian subsidiary Agrorozkvit.
