Lukashenka Signs Decree Pardoning Convicts Under “Extremism” Articles

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has signed a decree pardoning 18 people. Fifteen of them were convicted under “extremism” articles.

“Most of those pardoned are women (11 people). Six of them have children, including children with disabilities who require constant medical rehabilitation.

Two married couples have also been pardoned, as well as a woman in the late stages of pregnancy and one convict who broke the law at the age of 16,” Lukashenka’s press service said.

It was reported that those pardoned had submitted petitions for clemency, admitted their guilt, repented of their actions and promised to lead a “law-abiding lifestyle.”
