Alyaksandr Lukashenka, during today’s visit to a church in the village of Akolitsa in the Minsk District, presented a copy of the “Minsk” Icon of the Mother of God. According to him, it helps to see enemies and potential opponents.
Lukashenka noted that the icon is the main shrine of Belarus, helping people find the right path, gain clarity, and make correct decisions in difficult circumstances.
“Many, many times I have drawn your attention to the fact that the world today is very complicated. Confused to the point of impossibility. Perhaps our main shrine will help us find the right path in this dark, confusing, incomprehensible world. That is first,” he said.
Lukashenka added that the icon protects and delivers from visible and invisible enemies.
“This is extremely important! So God grant that this icon, our main shrine, helps you here and all of us to see… Well, let us assume we have no enemies. But we must see, God forbid, any potential opponents. And our icon may help us in this,” he said.
According to him, the past year was a bright period in the country’s life.
“Life is life. As we say, life is like a striped sailor’s shirt — white and dark stripes. And not all stripes are white. Although, I must say, the Lord has been merciful to us and we live in a peaceful country. And based on last year, I would say it was a white stripe. Today we have everything people need to live and feed themselves and their children — on one condition: if they work. Without work nothing will happen. Therefore, this icon gives us peace and comfort. It brings us to reason,” he continued.
Lukashenka also expressed hope that the icon will help guide the youth.
“The main thing for us is children. I often say: we have already lived something, seen something. Yes, today’s youth are different, our children are different from what we were. But our entire life, our attention is focused on children,” he said.
However, in conclusion Lukashenka returned to the idea that everything must be done by people themselves.
“But an icon is an icon, and everything depends on us. On children, on youth, on adults. Everything depends on us. If we firmly hold our destiny in our hands, He will always help. Above all, make sure you can help yourselves,” he concluded.
