Poland’s Customs and Tax Service discovered a large shipment of contraband cigarettes at the Bobrowniki border crossing with Belarus.
A 40-year-old Belarusian citizen was driving a truck that, according to the documents, was carrying roofing felt. The truck was sent for an X-ray examination and subsequently inspected. More than 150,000 packs of cigarettes were hidden inside the rolls. The value of the contraband shipment was estimated at 3 million zlotys.
A court ordered the man to be remanded in custody. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
