Local Budgets To Compensate Costs Of Maintaining Regional Airports

Local budgets will compensate the costs of maintaining airports in Brest, Vitsyebsk, Homyel, Hrodna and Mahilyow. This is provided for by Transport Ministry resolution No. 7 of 20 February. The document was published today on the National Legal Internet Portal and applies to legal relations arising from 1 January.

The resolution also approves a list of services for which part of the expenses will be reimbursed. It includes:

• airfield operations;
• provision of special vehicles and transport;
• ground handling of aircraft;
• radio-technical and lighting support;
• aviation security;
• emergency rescue and fire protection services;
• provision of fuel and lubricants;
• maintenance, technical servicing and current repairs of the terminal building, specialized buildings and structures, and transmission facilities.

The amount of compensation is determined as the difference between the airports’ actual expenses and the revenue received, including income from leasing property.
