At the “Bok & Vandring i Jäckvik / Jäggeluaktta” exhibition in Sweden, the chairman of the Viasna Human Rights Centre and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski exclusively presented his new notes on life in prison, which will become a new chapter in his book “Ales,” the Polackija Dabirynty publishing house wrote.
The chapter was translated into Swedish by diplomat Stefan Eriksson.
The book “Ales” was first published while Ales Bialiatski was still imprisoned. One of the central themes of the new notes is his account of daily life in a prison cell, where he was the only political prisoner and the remaining inmates came from the criminal underworld. Bialiatski recalls that his cellmates included drug users, petty offenders and even a man awaiting a life sentence.
The book is currently being translated into Polish and English.
