The Office of the President of Ukraine has forwarded an appeal from the Belarusian Democratic Forum requesting the opening of a criminal case against Aliaksandr Lukashenka to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The appeal was addressed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Today, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Oleh Tatarov said it had been forwarded to the prosecutor general, the Forum reported.
“We inform you that the submitted appeal has been forwarded to the Office of the Prosecutor General with a request to consider it within its competence, take appropriate measures if there are sufficient grounds, and inform the applicants of the results,” the official response from the Office of the President said.
The Forum of Democratic Forces, founded by Valery Tsapkala, asked the Ukrainian authorities to provide a legal assessment of Lukashenka’s actions “in connection with his role in supporting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the use of Belarusian territory for the invasion by Russian troops, and other actions.”
The authors of the appeal requested that the authorities consider opening criminal proceedings under several articles of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, including those covering the waging of an aggressive war, war crimes, financing terrorism, violations of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, war propaganda and genocide.
It should be recalled that Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, during her visit to Kyiv in January 2026, discussed with Volodymyr Zelenskyy the possibility of holding Lukashenka accountable, including over the transfer of Ukrainian children from occupied territories.
