Latvia is gradually shutting down regular bus services with Belarus, the Telegram channel Infotrans Media Belarus reports. According to the outlet, the first route — Riga–Vitebsk — will cease operations as early as February 1, 2026, with other routes to be discontinued later.
The report notes that this is not a direct ban on travel but rather a decision to stop renewing permits for regular passenger transport. Once the existing licenses expire, buses will no longer be allowed to operate on the routes.
Currently, regular bus services from Latvia to Belarus are operated by Latlines and Dautrans. Dautrans’ license for the Riga–Vitebsk route expires on January 31, 2026. Latlines’ permit for the Riga–Minsk route is valid until February 26, 2026, while its permit for the route to Gomel, which runs via Polotsk, Vitebsk, Orsha and Mogilev, is valid until June 27, 2026, the outlet reports.
