Kubrakou Reports to Lukashenka on Readiness Check of Internal Troops

On 8 January, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou presented a report to Alyaksandr Lukashenka. He spoke about the operational situation in the country, the readiness check of the internal troops, and the assistance provided by Interior Ministry personnel in clearing snow in Minsk and the regions, Lukashenka’s press service reported.

Kubrakou stated that the operational situation in Belarus is calm and under control.

“In the eight days of January, five murders were committed. Yes, this is fewer than last year, but unfortunately these are five human lives,” Kubrakou said. He added that during this time 14 cases of grievous bodily harm and seven incidents of hooliganism were recorded. No crimes occurred at festive public events.

The interior minister also reported on the ongoing readiness check of the internal troops and certain Interior Ministry units. The operational capacity of equipment and the coordination of personnel actions are being assessed. According to Kubrakou, the inspection is routine and is being conducted in line with instructions previously issued by Lukashenka.

“We will check the readiness of both equipment and personnel to act,” Kubrakou told journalists after the report.

Special units are also being checked for their readiness to counter sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

“There is no emergency situation; this is a scheduled activity. All units of any security structure must remain in constant readiness,” the interior minister said.
