The press services of the Interior Ministry and the Investigative Committee reported that they had solved the brutal murder of a 31-year-old foreign national. The suspects allegedly did everything possible to conceal the crime.
According to the Interior Ministry, a resident of Homiel contacted police to report his employee missing. Within 24 hours, authorities identified those allegedly involved in his disappearance.
A 53-year-old woman who lived with the victim and her 18-year-old son were detained on suspicion of committing the crime.
“According to preliminary information, a conflict broke out between the couple at home during the night of May 23-24, during which the woman inflicted a fatal knife wound on the man. Subsequently, the suspect and her son took a number of actions to conceal the traces of the crime. The victim’s body was taken to the grounds of a private house, burned on the property, and the bone remains were buried,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The Interior Ministry press service provided its own version with some additional details.
“Preliminary information indicates that the death of the 31-year-old man resulted from a conflict with his 53-year-old partner. She then transported the body with her 18-year-old son to her private house and buried it on the property. Assuming the body could be discovered, they dug it up and burned it, scattered the ashes around the vegetable garden and later dug over the soil,” the ministry said.
Investigators conducted investigative actions and inspections, and forensic examinations have been ordered.
A criminal case has been opened under Paragraph 15, Part 2, Article 139 of the Criminal Code (murder committed by a group of persons).
