Belarusian Defence Minister Viktar Khrenin presented the Orders of Friendship of Peoples in Moscow to Colonel General Viktor Poznikhir and Major General Aleksandr Pashchenko. The ceremony took place today at the Belarusian embassy in Moscow before Khrenin’s departure home.
“This is one of the most significant state awards of the Republic of Belarus,” the Belarusian Defence Ministry said.
“This is not just a high award. It is a symbol of special trust and deep respect, embodying our centuries-old history, the shared spiritual values of our peoples, and a common aspiration for peace and security in the region,” the ministry quoted Khrenin as saying.
Speaking at the ceremony, he emphasised “the symbolism of presenting the orders on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia”.
“On this significant day, I have the honour of presenting the highest award of Belarus for foreign citizens — the Order of Friendship of Peoples. This is not just a high award. It is a symbol of special trust and deep respect, embodying our centuries-old history, the shared spiritual values of our peoples, and a common aspiration for peace and security in the region. Your outstanding merits in strengthening peace, friendly relations and cooperation between states, consolidating society and the unity of peoples have been duly recognised by the leadership of the Republic of Belarus,” the minister said.
“I express firm confidence that you will continue, through your impeccable service, with honour and dignity, to defend the interests of the Union State. Today we are jointly waging a struggle for a just peace. And the union of Belarus and Russia stands at the forefront of this tough and very serious struggle. May, in the fragile conditions of today’s world, the unbreakable friendship of the brotherly Slavic peoples remain for centuries that stronghold against which the aggressive plans of our adversaries will always be shattered,” he added.
