The Supreme Court of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” has handed down an in absentia sentence to Kalinouski Regiment fighter Hlieb Hunko. He was sentenced to 13 years in a penal colony.
The 21-year-old Hunko was found guilty under the article on “participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict” (Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
“The court established that in March 2022 Hunko arrived on the territory of Ukraine via a Polish border checkpoint, where, acting as a mercenary, he voluntarily joined the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, which is recognized in our country as a terrorist organization. After undergoing military training in Poland, he was provided with a personal firearm, ammunition, uniform, and special equipment. After that, until October 2022, the mercenary took part in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. For his unlawful actions, he received remuneration in excess of 486,000 rubles,” the “DPR” prosecutor’s office said.
It is reported that Hunko has been placed on an international wanted list.
