A hotline has been opened for relatives and close associates of political prisoners at @hotline202512. Available information about a specific person can be verified there, the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya reports.
Lists of released political prisoners will not be published until the information has been verified.
“Human rights defenders are promptly verifying the information, helping those released contact their relatives and providing necessary support in the first hours and days after their release,” Tsikhanouskaya’s Office reports.
Tsikhanouskaya’s Office urges people to exercise caution when sharing information about those released, as unconfirmed names may cause additional pain to those waiting for their loved ones.
Following talks between Aliaksandr Lukashenka and U.S. President’s Special Envoy John Coale, the Belarusian authorities pledged to release 25 people in exchange for the lifting of sanctions on Lakokraska and Bellesbumprom. Coale also said that the release of political prisoners and the lifting of sanctions would continue.
