Twelve days after the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency due to an outbreak of Ebola fever caused by the Bundibugyo orthoebolavirus (BVD) in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, the Belarusian Health Ministry decided to issue recommendations for Belarusians as well.
“At present, the Ministry of Health recommends that citizens refrain from visiting these African countries unless absolutely necessary,” the statement said.
The ministry also assured that the situation remains under constant monitoring and that sanitary supervision specialists are continuously tracking the global epidemiological situation.
“If symptoms of an infectious disease appear (fever, weakness, headache, muscle pain) after returning from countries affected by Ebola fever, it is necessary to seek medical assistance immediately. It is recommended to call an ambulance to your home and be sure to inform the dispatcher about your stay abroad and possible contacts,” the ministry added.
