Syzran Oil Refinery in Russia on Fire Again After Drone Attack

The Syzran oil refinery, part of the Rosneft oil company, caught fire after a drone attack. Local residents have posted videos of the burning refinery.

Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said on his Telegram channel that the region had come under attack overnight.

“A ‘DRONE THREAT’ alert is in effect in the Samara region”, he wrote, without providing details.

The Syzran refinery has been targeted by drones before. Attacks were reported in 2024 and 2025. Following another attack, the plant completely halted crude oil processing on May 21, 2026, due to damage to its AVT-6 primary refining unit. Repairs to the AVT-6 unit were reported to potentially take more than a month.

The Syzran refinery, located in the Samara region, has a nominal capacity of 8.5 million tonnes of oil per year, or 24,200 tonnes per day.
