Belarusian state television channel ONT has aired footage of former Kalinouski Regiment fighter Vasili Verameichyk, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Verameichyk is serving his sentence in the Shklou penal colony, where he works at a sawmill. State propagandists filmed him for a report about the Kalinouski Regiment.
The same report also featured footage of former Kalinouski Regiment fighter Maksim Ralko. He was sentenced to 10 years in a medium-security penal colony. Ralko is currently being held in the detention center in Kaliadzichy after being transferred there from a penal colony. The report claims that he has submitted a petition for a pardon.
Verameichyk was detained in Vietnam and extradited to Belarus in November 2024. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Verameichyk was convicted on charges including participation in “extremist formations,” participation in an armed conflict without state authorization, involvement in a conspiracy to seize state power, facilitating “extremist activity,” and making threats and insults against law enforcement officers, Aliaksandr Lukashenka and judges.
