A foreign citizen beat his fiancée’s nine-year-old child with a belt. Prosecutors have opened a criminal case for causing minor bodily harm (Article 153 of the Criminal Code).
The 36-year-old accused lived in Minsk with a woman and her nine-year-old son. The couple were preparing for their wedding and temporarily took the boy to his grandmother. The grandmother noticed bruises on the child’s body. The boy said he had been beaten by his mother’s partner. The man did not deny this and said that in May 2025 he struck the child with a belt at least four times *“for bad behavior,”* the Minsk prosecutor’s office reported.
The blows caused multiple bruises, abrasions and hematomas on the child’s buttocks, as well as bruising on his back and on the outer surface of his left thigh.
The boy’s mother refused to file a complaint seeking to hold her partner accountable. The prosecutor’s office nevertheless opened a criminal case.
