The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the deaths of four Belarusian citizens in a minibus crash in Georgia.
According to the Foreign Ministry, 19 Belarusian citizens were on the bus. Four people were killed and 15 were injured, including six minors.
“According to information provided by the Georgian Interior Ministry, the minibus driver failed to ensure safe operation of the vehicle, as a result of which the minibus veered off the road and fell into a ravine,” the Foreign Ministry said, BelTA reports.
The accident occurred on the evening of Aug. 12 on the road from Gomismta.
Four people were taken to hospitals in Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri. Eleven people were taken to the Republican Hospital in Batumi. Two are in intensive care. According to the hospital’s chief physician, their condition is not life-threatening.
“The Embassy of Belarus in Georgia is providing all necessary consular assistance. The Belarusian consul in Georgia has already left for the scene of the accident,” the Foreign Ministry said.
