The Prosecutor’s Office of Dzyarzhynsk District has opened a criminal case against a 53-year-old local resident. He is accused of torturing a minor (Part 2, Article 154 of the Criminal Code). He faces between one and three years of restricted freedom or between one and five years in prison.
It was established that from October 2025 to January 2026, during arguments with his son, who has hearing and speech disabilities, the man systematically beat and choked him and put him under icy water. The man explained that he acted this way because of the child’s improper behavior, the Minsk Region Prosecutor’s Office reports.
The criminal case was opened following an inspection of materials from a territorial Department of Internal Affairs. The preliminary investigation will be conducted by the Investigative Committee.
