National Bank of Belarus Chairman Raman Halouchanka met with Oman Investment Authority Chief Investment Officer Ibrahim Al-Eisri. The meeting focused, among other things, on the implementation of major investment projects involving the Omani side.
“The agreements reached at the level of our heads of state make it possible to significantly intensify our cooperation and move forward in areas of mutual interest. Just last week, the first meeting of the Belarus-Oman Joint Committee on Cooperation and Investment took place in Muscat, and today in Minsk we are already discussing bilateral cooperation issues and specific initiatives.
A very good pace. I would be glad to hear your opinion regarding progress on a number of major projects planned for implementation with the participation of the Oman Investment Authority in the Republic of Belarus. We are also open to any of your proposals for cooperation in the investment, trade, economic and banking spheres. We expect bilateral relations to intensify, understanding that there are no problems between us that cannot be resolved”, Halouchanka said.
“The goal of our agency is to develop long-term partnerships, provide comprehensive investment support and contribute to the sustainable growth of our partners. As you know, as Oman’s main investment agency, we have an extensive network of more than 15 regional offices around the world. An office has also been opened in Belarus, and a team of professionals has been formed to work effectively on the local market. We are ready to consider various forms of cooperation, using not only our own resources as investments, but also attracting the capabilities of leading investors.
Under the strategic leadership of the president of the Oman Investment Authority, for whom this project has become a personal priority, we intend to launch one of the key initiatives: the creation of the so-called food basket of the future. Given that Belarus has rich land and water resources, we plan to develop large-scale projects capable not only of bringing our countries together, but also of generating a significant commercial effect for all participants”, Al-Eisri said in turn.
It was previously reported that Oman plans to invest in the construction of a pulp and cardboard mill in Belarus. There was also talk of agricultural production in Vitsebsk Region. In addition, Alyaksandr Lukashenka spoke about the construction of a Belarusian resort in Oman, and during a visit to Algeria proposed implementing a fertilizer production project involving Belarus, Oman and Algeria.

Al-Eisri’s talks with Halouchanka were not limited to that. The Omani financier also met with Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou.
“Particular attention was paid to the development of bilateral projects, in particular in the fields of industry and food security, which represent the first stage in creating a hub for Belarusian goods in Oman”, the Foreign Ministry press service said.
