Flooding Reported in 16 Districts of Belarus

Flooding has been recorded in 16 districts of Belarus, the Emergency Situations Ministry reported.

“The affected areas include 18 residential houses, 8 basements, 44 household plots and 11 outbuildings. At present, in two regions across three districts, flood and meltwater still inundate two private household plots, two outbuildings and one section of a road,” the ministry said.

Most rivers remain covered with ice featuring openings and cracks. Water has been observed on the ice surface. Ice drift has been recorded on the Prypiac River (the Chernichi–Mazyr section) and on the Biarezina River near Barysau.

Further rises in river water levels are expected in the coming days. The Bobr River near the village of Kuty is forecast to overflow onto its floodplain.
