Explosion-Damaged Apartment Block in Homiel Expected to Be Restored by End of Month

Restoration work on the multi-story residential building in Homiel damaged by an explosion is expected to be completed by the end of the month. This was stated by Homiel House-Building Combine Director General Alyaksandr Hancharou.

“As of April 22, the installation of floors from the fifth to the 10th has been completed, and engineering systems are being installed inside. Starting today, we are beginning the installation of the technical floor and roof slabs. Work is underway inside the third entrance section, where water supply and sewage communications are being laid. Restoration work will be completed by the end of the month”, he said.

After restoration and finishing work is completed, the building will return to its original appearance. All entrance sections will be designed in a unified style, the Homiel regional executive committee’s Telegram channel reported.

It is worth recalling that a gas explosion occurred in one of the apartments in the third entrance section of the 10-story building on Dec. 17. One person was killed. Ceiling slabs on the seventh and eighth floors collapsed.
