The exhibition Sugar Free by Uladzimir Tsesler has opened at the AORTA social art gallery in the Italian city of Pisa. The exhibition is presented without “cultural sugar”, without pretending that symbols are untouchable and that sensitive topics should remain taboo. Irony can embrace everything, allowing social realities of the modern world to be seen and experienced more clearly, according to the exhibition description.
Part of the exhibition has a virtual extension: selected works are presented in 3D and inside a virtual exhibition space.
“In the VR layer, visitors can see other, even more provocative works alongside the physical pieces, and there are no random elements there — everything is interconnected. This is also where a five-metre statue of David ‘appears’ as another dimension of Tsesler’s world.
Inside the virtual space, visitors can not only observe but also create their own reality by adding their own elements. And in the AORTA space, visitors can leave traces in the physical world on the gallery walls. Moreover, they can take that trace away with them”, curator Nadzeya Naurotskaya writes.
The exhibition, located at Corso Italia 146, Pisa, will run until June 28.
