The family of a schoolboy from Baranavichy has reported that the teenager is being bullied at Gymnasium No. 4. The information about the bullying was published on Threads by the father and older sister of the affected schoolboy, Lev Rusan. A video about the bullying, created with the help of AI, was also posted on Instagram.
“My younger brother has been bullied at Gymnasium No. 4 in Baranavichy for two years already. Visits and reports to the police station, letters to higher authorities, court proceedings, psychotherapists — all to no avail,” Lev’s sister wrote. Photos of the boy with bruises were attached to the post.
In the Instagram video, the teenager says he was beaten by groups of students several times, his backpack was put in a toilet, and in the cafeteria he is seated at the last table, where no one else sits, and “bullied mercilessly.”
The teenager’s father says his son is being “pushed out of the class and gymnasium.” “Even the mother of one of the bullies collected signatures from parents to have us expelled from the class,” he claims.
“They have been bullying him for a whole year. We initially contacted the class teacher, the principal, the Baranavichy Education Department, the Brest Education Department, the City Department of Internal Affairs, the Juvenile Affairs Inspectorate and the prosecutor’s office. Court hearings are now underway. They are trying to have us registered with the Juvenile Affairs Inspectorate, and we are trying to appeal this because Lev was simply trying to defend himself — he held the bully by the arm,” the boy’s father said.
The police responded to the posts. The Brest Regional Department of Internal Affairs said that the situation had been examined on site together with representatives of the education authorities.
“It was established that a conflict situation has developed in the class involving a newly arrived student, which requires social and educational support. At present, all interested parties, together with the parents, have developed a strategy for resolving the incident,” the police said.
The Department of Internal Affairs assured that the situation remains under police control.
