EHU Distance Student Searched by Security Forces — kyky_org

Security forces carried out a search at the home of a distance-learning student of the European Humanities University living in Belarus, kyky_org reported, citing two unrelated sources.

According to the outlet, the student was forced to write a request for expulsion and had his Lithuanian residence permit card cut up.

Another source told the редакция that an acquaintance of his, also a distance-learning student at EHU, was dismissed from her job after the university was designated an “extremist organisation”.

It is recalled that the Supreme Court of Belarus recognised the Vilnius-based European Humanities University, together with its structural units, as an “extremist organisation”.

The Prosecutor General’s Office says the university prepares Belarusian youth “for the implementation of Western scenarios of political system transformation, the promotion of so-called democratic values and ‘alternative’ interpretations of historical, cultural and other events”.
