EDB Improves Belarus Economic Growth Forecast Amid Faster Investment Growth

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has raised its forecast for Belarus’s economic growth, linking the revision to an acceleration in investment.

In the first half of the year, investment in fixed capital in Belarus increased by 4.1%. By comparison, growth stood at 1.5% in January-May.

“State support for investment activity continues to play an important role. Budget-financed investment increased by 11.4% year on year, while investment financed through concessional loans nearly doubled,” the bank said in its weekly review of the economies of EDB member states.

“Given the expansion of investment activity, we expect Belarus’s GDP growth to exceed 1.5% in 2026,” the bank added.

The EDB presented the summer edition of its macroeconomic forecast in mid-June, projecting Belarus’s GDP growth at 1.3% for 2026.
