Democratic Forces Representatives Take Part In Meeting Of “For A Democratic Belarus” Group In Verkhovna Rada

A meeting of the parliamentary group “For a Democratic Belarus” was held in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada. Participants included adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on parliamentary cooperation Anatol Liabedzka, representative of the democratic forces Svetlana Shatilina, and director of the program for Russian and Belarusian studies Yaroslav Chornogor.

The meeting discussed legislative initiatives on the legal status and integration of Belarusians in Ukraine. It was proposed that lawmakers take patronage over individual cases involving Belarusians, for example those related to volunteers and volunteer fighters. The possible involvement of Ukrainian lawmakers in the Libereco initiative was also discussed, the Tsikhanouskaya Office reported.

The agenda also included issues related to organizing and holding the “Path to Freedom” conference and the Ostrogski Forum. The parties considered the possibility of using the experience of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada in preparing a package of reform and legislative initiatives titled “Positive Alternative.”

Svetlana Shatilina presented the “Mission of the Democratic Forces of Belarus in Ukraine.” The parties discussed possible cooperation with the mission.

Separately, the possibility of holding a meeting of the Alliance of Parliamentary Groups “For a Democratic Belarus” in Kyiv in 2027 was considered.
